A close girlfriend decided my sulky self needed to be dragged out of the house for a (long overdue) girls’ night out. What an inspired idea. And what better way to blast away the blues than with delicious sticky soul food?
This inspired pop-up restaurant was run by Tacquito Taco Pop up Brisbane who served up some of the most delicious American Southern-inspired food I’ve had in a long time. The thought of those ribs are making me drool.
We got there as it opened and thank god we did because as we got back to our table the crowds had descended and the queues got really long, really quickly.
Getting out priorities straight we sorted out our beverages for the evening. (They had a liquor license!) They had a pretty good selection of drinks, white and red wine, classic American ‘sodas’ as well as a few tasty craft beers.
The Brooklyn Larger was our Global Goddess’ drink of choice. She did have a point that beer complimented the wings and ribs we were eating…I still stuck to red.
Speaking of the wings! They had a delicious crispy southern-spiced coating and doused with an amazing blue cheese dressing. I am not a fan of blue cheese and this was fantastic!
For me the winner was the ribs…the marinade had a yummy spice and I’m still trying to get the recipe off them so I can make them at home. My friend (5″ nothing) and me (5″10′) are not big girls yet we managed to put away two large racks of ribs each. I could stop eating them!
